Welcome to the Mildred Scheel School of Oncology ABCD.

A joint venture of the University Hospitals Cologne and Bonn and the Faculties of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the Universities of Aachen, Bonn, Cologne and Düsseldorf, the Mildred Scheel School of Oncology (MSSO ABCD) at the Center for Integrated Oncology ABCD (CIO ABCD) will further the careers of the brightest minds in translational cancer research and trains a new generation of physician and medical scientists to accelerate the development of novel cancer therapies.

A more than necessary step since modern-day cancer therapy is witnessing a paradigm shift, away from globally toxic chemo- and radiotherapy, towards the use of non-genotoxic targeted small molecules and antibodies. The advent of modern technologies, particularly genome sequencing and high-performance computational biology, has revolutionized cancer research. These knowledge gains led to the development and clinical implementation of numerous novel drugs.

MD Research Stipends

The MSSO undergraduate program prepares highly qualified and outstanding MD students during a 12 months study leave for a scientific career in the field of translational cancer research by integrating them into ongoing research projects.
